DO-IT-YOURSELF SAFARI (DIY):

This option is for those who like to keep it simple in the bush - getting to grips with nature and beast without much material assistance. You bring along your sense of adventure, a sleeping bag and a pair of sensible shoes and in return we supply a comfortable but basic camp set-up within the National Park’s public campsites, a professional guide, a specially designed game viewing vehicle and years of experience ensuring new discoveries are made and adventures had every day.

This option is available as a tailor-made or set-departure safari.

Please contact our enquiries desk for more information either by completing the enquiry form or by emailing us. We will get back to you with more information.

PARTICIPATION SAFARIS:

While a sense of adventure is still mandatory for this option we have supplemented more comfort for fewer chores. A little bit of participation goes a long way to creating a unique bond between yourselves and Botswana’s bush life. Our own blend of do-it-yourself with a little more leisure time ensures that while you have a laugh making and breaking camp and acquiring skills as a bush chef extraordinaire, there is no need to get dirty doing the dishes.

As with all our safaris one travels in a fully-equipped specially designed 4x4 game viewing vehicle, accompanied by a support vehicle for larger groups while in the hands of an experienced guide along with an expert camp hand or two. Tented accommodation is spacious and practical with fully made and comfortable bedrolls, while camp is set up in the national park’s secluded HATAB campsites.

This option is available as a tailor-made or set-departure safari.

AT LEISURE SAFARI (UP MARKET):

Rediscover a sense of well-being and the good things in life within a safari context unique to Wild Attractions.

Disregard all preconceived notions and open yourself to an experience reminiscent of the classic expeditions of yesteryear.

Think pleasure, ease and reward - and we’ll undertake to ensure your comfort and deliver on all that makes our safaris unforgettable.

Taking advantage of the finest, secluded sites in Botswana’s National Parks, camp is conjured up with minimum fuss and maximum emphasis on getting it right according to the varied requirements of our guests. Escorted by professional guides in fully-equipped customized 4x4 game viewing vehicles, and tended to by experienced cooks and camp-hands everyday eclipses the previous day’s adventure.

Roomy, well-ventilated tents are carefully positioned and feature serviced en-suite facilities, while the dining area is set apart, essentially shaping the warm heart of the camp-site - as it overflows with anecdotes detailing that days encounters and stories yet to be told.

This option is only available as a tailored safari.

BRIEF BREAK-AWAY’S FROM MAUN:

MOREMI DAY EXCURSION:

It’s an early start for guests going out to Moremi with breakfast at about six-thirty and a 7am pick-up. Guests are accompanied by an experienced professional guide and explore the parks in a specially designed 4x4 game viewing vehicle. The entrance to the park; South Gate, is approximately 90 minutes from Maun on a gravel road. Areas visited in the Park can include Third Bridge, Khwai, and the Hippo Pools etc. depending on where the guide believes the wildlife to be.

This excursion includes a packed picnic-style lunch which can be eaten at the guest’s discretion while driving or at a picnic spot en route.

Guests will return to Maun between 5pm and 7pm depending on the season.

This option is also available for an overnight excursion - catered or self-catered.

MOKORO DAY EXCURSION:

Guests depart after breakfast with a transfer from the Lodge (approx 1 - 2 hrs) to the poling station, either Boro or Ditshipi, both situated in the Eastern reaches of the Okavango Delta. We work hand in hand with the Okavango Kopano Community Mokoro Trust - experienced polers familiar with the area.

The guided Mokoro trip lasts about 1 - 2 hrs, before a picnic-lunch is enjoyed on one of the many small islands which form part of the delta’s intricate channel network. Following lunch a guided walking safari is suggested which lasts between one and three hours. Then it’s back on the Mokoros where guests can ask for a quick poling lesson or simply get poled back to the station at their leisure.

Please note the experience depends greatly on the interaction between guest and poler and the above is just an advisory.

A single supplement applies to both day and overnight excursions.

This option is also available as an overnight excursion.

SCENIC FLIGHTS:

What better way to see the Okavango in its intricate entirety than from a bird’s eye view - take to the skies for an awe-inspiring flip over the delta.

Flights are available through-out the day but recommended times are either in the morning between 8am and 9am or 8.30am and 9.30am or in the afternoon between 4pm and 5pm - when the temperatures are a little cooler.

Flights depart from Maun airport and aircraft fly at approximately 500 feet - superb altitude for game-viewing.

Guests can normally expect sightings of elephant, giraffe, hippo, buffalo, and on occasion have even spotted lion from the air!

Most scenic flights are done in a 5-seater Cessna 206, a high wing aircraft which allows for good photography as each passenger has their own window seat below the wing.

Passengers are given a full briefing by their pilot before they board the plane, and will be shown on a map the route that they will fly.

(Wild Attractions fly with Mack Air).
